At Captain, we help restaurants take their delivery to the next level, in whichever way delivery is executed in their operations. Our story started back in 2016 when a team of delivery experts and tech enthusiasts came together with a unified goal: to give restaurants the tools to automate their entire delivery operation from kitchen to customer using the best software in the world.
We know that operating a restaurant comes with a unique set of challenges, so we combined our experience running an on-demand food delivery marketplace, managing teams of drivers and executing thousands of deliveries, with our passion for technology to create the only software solution in the world that is fully dedicated to end-to-end restaurant delivery management.

Captain’s History
2014
The Henchman App launches in London and becomes one of the UK's first same-hour restaurant, grocery, and retail delivery marketplaces
Our founders, Ryan, Dihan, and Ingmar run all the deliveries and distribute invitations to use the app by personal handwritten letters in Fulham and Chelsea.
Paypal accepts the team into an accelerator
2015
Henchman raises their first round of investment and grows the team to 30 employees with more than 50 drivers.
2016
CEO Ryan Perera presents the Henchman technology alongside panel members David Buttress (former CEO of Just Eat), Will Shu (CEO of Deliveroo), and Andrew Rennie (CEO of Dominos) and shares our vision for making delivery profitable at the European FoodService Summit.
2016
Enrico Sodano the CEO of Vapiano Switzerland approaches Ryan to ask if Captain could be made available to his restaurant, and Captain AI as we know it is born
Rico Logistics, an international logistics giant acquires the Henchman driver team and the Henchman App. Henchman’s developer and product team go on to form Captain.
2017
Captain launches its first store in Zurich, Switzerland. Our founders and developer team travel to Switzerland to work on-site alongside Enrico and his team to roll out the first prototype of a delivery process that is entirely automated from kitchen to customer.
2018
Captain goes to the US! We present at the Las Vegas Pizza Expo and start working with our first North American customers.
Captain starts working on a pilot with Pizza Pizza, the largest pizza chain in Canada.
2020
Captain partners with Revel to launch their white-label product, Delivery XT, bringing Captain into one of the leading US POS companies.
2021
Pizza Pizza launches nationwide with Captain and enables Pizza Pizza to become the first Canadian chain to offer live delivery tracking to their customers nationwide
2022
Captain partners with SpotOn POS as their preferred delivery management integration
Captain launches Copilot, it's ground-breaking AI-powered dispatch system that automates the dispatch process of single and batched routes
2023
Captain launches hybrid delivery with the help of partners DoorDash Drive and Uber Direct
Captain successfully powers over 10 million deliveries
